IT'S CRIBBAGE SEASON !!!

The 49thAnnual
Martin Cribbage Association
Thanksgiving Tournament
The 48th Defending Champion Jennifer Martin
was eliminated in pod play by Deb.  Deb paid a price for the victory as ended up being late for work for the Wal Mart early Black Friday sale.  Deb had to guard the X-Box 1S from early buyers.  Her guard was successful and sold over thirty of them in the one hour they were featured.

The Finals are under way and Purgi hung on to beat Zach and is now in the finals for the fourth time still seeking her first Title.  Seppi absolutely clobbered Dan and will meet  Purgi in the final.  Zach didn't peg out but successfully prevented Dan from doing so to take 3rd place 121-118.  Purgi and Seppi will put off their championship game until they can play on the Big Board face to face.  Should take place in a couple of weeks.  Stay Tuned ...

Martin Cribbage Association

The MCA had its humble beginnings back on Christmas Day of 1969 when our mother Joan (prounounced like JoAnn) gave our father Dick Martin a large table sized cribbage board as a christmas present.  After a few days of playing games on this new board we decided to have a tournament on New Years Day.  So on that day the first tournament was held.  In this initial event Dick defeated his eldest son Rick two games to one to win the first tournament.  This first event gave Dick two titles.  One was the tournament title that would later be known as the Thanksgiving Tournament Title and the other became known as the MCA World Title.
Later that year in 1970 Dick lost the World Title to his youngest son Dan in another two out of three match.  the MCA world title has since then changed hands many times and now is held by Dan Martin who has won it for an unprecented 5th time.  To win the title you now have to win a best of seven series.
On Thanksgiving Day of 1971 the second tournament was held and was won by Rick, the first of his six TT titles.  This event, the Martin Cribbage Association Thanksgiving Tournament, has been held annually ever since and the winner now receives the Dick Martin Memorial Trophy.  The 2017 and 47th annual TT champion is Jennifer Martin, a winner for the 2nd time with a revenge victory over Alex Holt (Alex beat Jenn to win the 46th) Alex Holt's claim to fame is scoring the first and only 29 point hand in Thanksgiving Tournament history.  Jenn will defend her title at the 48th annual tourney with Alex having revenge on his mind this time.  Those two and Seppi and Blake will most assuredly try to wrestle the MCA World Title away from Dan if possible thru the internet.
The MCA is a special family association and over the years is almost another child in the family.  There are now four generations of Martin "Bloods and Waters" in the MCA.  All these players have the competitive edge that seeps into our daily lives.  As Thanksgiving Day approaches every year the hype begins to grow and the taunts get livelier and the emails get raunchier.
As President of the MCA I can tell you that the MCA is a fun part of our lives and a natural glue to our family unity.  May the MCA live forever and keep on peggin'.
